Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some timely catching up with friends (old and new)!
If we were having coffee, I’d say that the election judge work has taken most of my time. Our polling place ranks second for activity. Now we’re getting just over 200 voters a day. I just checked and in the last two local elections only 17% and 21% of voters voted. Not anything to write home about.
It’s been cold and I’ve broken out the gloves again.
I have finished two books, The Third Policeman (thumbs way down) and Journey into the Whirlwind. I’m almost done with Eric Hoffer’s True Believer. One of the voters saw that on my table and commented that she used to teach that in high school. Wow. Her students must have been sophisticated. Between Easter and the Election, the earliest I can get some book reviews done is Wednesday.
Today’s Good Friday so I’m fasting. I’d have liked to get to church at 3:00 pm, but it got filled up immediately. I can watch a service on YouTube after dinner. I did go to church for Holy Thursday last night at a chapel at Northwestern University. It was very simple, but sanitary (how odd that that’s worth commenting on). No feet washing, which I’m fine with, but none of the other extras which are traditional. I guess it’s because there was only one priest available and it seems more are needed.
I’ll be working all weekend and Monday and Tuesday. I do think I should have taken one day off to catch up on chores, but I can do that Wednesday.
